The state–of–the-art drawing tower is jointly used by a research collaboration between SIPBB-SAMC, BFH, and the University of Bern. This is an example where three organizations normally active in different stages of the innovation process, i.e. at different TRL levels, are joining their specific competencies to work on fundamental research challenges. The joint research roadmap includes quantum dot-doped fibers, where, by doping fibers with semiconductor quantum dots, we aim to create fibers with tunable optical properties for applications in sensing, imaging, and quantum communication.
